Cheaters rarely stop at one server. The global banlist is a shared record of accounts caught cheating anywhere on the Asphyxia network — so a cheater caught elsewhere this morning can’t join you this afternoon.
How it works
Bans issued on individual servers are reviewed by Asphyxia moderators. Ones that clearly show cheating are promoted to the global list. Your server downloads that list when it starts and refreshes it every few minutes, so newly-added bans reach you without a restart.
When someone connects, Asphyxia checks their identifiers against the global list the same way it checks your own. A match is turned away with a ban card that makes clear the ban is network-wide, not yours.
Only reviewed bans make it onto the list. A ban you issue on your server stays local unless it’s been through that review.
Turning it on and off
The global banlist is controlled per-server from your dashboard’s Global Banlist page. Switching it off means your server downloads nothing and enforces nothing from it — your own bans are unaffected.
Excluding a single ban
Sometimes you want the list, but not one entry on it — a player you know personally, or someone whose ban you disagree with.
The Global Banlist page lets you exclude individual bans for your server. Excluded bans are filtered out before the list is ever sent to you, so the player connects normally while everyone else on the network still keeps them out.
What you’ll see
[Asphyxia.] › ✔ success Loaded 1892 ban(s) from the shared Asphyxia global banlist. If the list is disabled for your server, nothing is loaded and nothing is enforced.
Checking a player before they join
If you want to know whether a specific person is on the list — before they’ve ever connected — use Discord Lookup. Enter their Discord ID and it reports whether they’re globally banned, banned on your server, and whether they’ve played with you before.
